US JR Olympic PPP National Championship

The Newberry Junior Pistol Club had a very successful weekend at Fort Benning at the US JR Olympic PPP National Championship held July 28-30, 2016 and the NRA Air Gun National Championship held July 31,2016. Taylor Martin and Brianna Kinard competed at the PPP Championship and did extremely well. Both qualified to compete in the finals with Brianna finishing an impressive 5th and with Taylor winning the ladies division and earning a slot on the US JR Olympic Developement Squad.

On Sunday the NRA Air Gun Championship was held and it was also open to the adults. It was a fun day of shooting with the teams of the Newberry Jr Pistol Club Old Fish competing along with the Newberry Jr Pistol Club Gold Fish. The Gold Fish team of Sean Blanton, Brandy Blanton and Taylor Martin finished 2nd and the Old Fish team of Ben Blanton, Alice Blanton and Shawn Martin finished 4th. This was the first time that the father, daughter Martin pair had competed in a match together and it had been about 7 years since all the Blanton family has all competed together. This made for a fun time for everyone.Sean Blanton took 1st place in the adults division and Taylor Martin took 1st in the junior intermediate division at the NRA Championship.

The Newberry Junior Pistol Club would like to thank all of it's local supporters and special thanks to The Friends of NRA Foundation and Gun Owners of SC for their financial support, without which it would be very difficult to have the program available at no cost to local youths. Anyone interested in helping or participating with the club can contact via Facebook at Newberry Junior Pistol Club.
